Members of HCC’s youth group volunteered to paint the handicap ramp on the north side of the HCC church building. This job took several hours and a lot of diligence. HCC is thankful for their wonderful work.

HCC’s Ladies’ Fellowship group meets during the school year. So September marks the return of this special event. Brenda Reamer shared a devotion about drawing near to God utilizing magnets as a visual aid. Leslie Kirkpatrick provided a door prize (which was won by Helen Hoover).

Residents of Hadley and Elba Townships were joined by neighbors from surrounding communities to mark the anniversary of the events of 9/11/01. The event begins with the retelling of the story of Stephen Siller. Due to traffic congestion, this first responder ran four miles into the World Trade Center. The local event is a four mile walk between the two fire stations. HCC was represented by several members, including Pastor Matthew Coleman and Chairperson of the Trustees, Robert Hartwig.

Wednesday, September 11, 2024 was a beautiful night in Elba and Hadley Townships. Many people from the surrounding communities united to honor and memorialize those first responders that sacrificed themselves on 9/11/2001 and to remember all those that lost their lives.

HCC welcome Auna Bearup, the Mid-Thumb Director of CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) to speak. The meal was very well received!

Almost 50 congregants of HCC participated in the Elba Twp Fire and Rescue’s Pancake Breakfast.

HCC welcomed Randy and Adena Wildman. They are missionaries to Nigeria with SIM USA. The Wildmans enjoyed a meal with the Missions Committee on Saturday evening. Then, they spoke during the Sunday School and Worship service on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 8.

The youth and leaders journeyed to Oxford to attend a special presentation of Daniel: Live. This event featured the production from Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA.

HCC hosted a GAME CLUB event on Tuesday, August 20. The evening began with a wonderful potluck dinner. Then, Dave Harrington (an HCC deacon) led the group in playing a new strategy game, Flip 7. After each round, a score is given for each hand with a goal of reaching 200 points. The winners for the evening were Danielle Overmyer and Sheri Ecker-Smith, who score 216 points.
