July 29 – the HCC Movie Club met to watch “Disciples in the Moonlight”. This independently produced film presented what life in America might be like if the Holy Bible was made illegal. This two hour movie followed the lives of seven Disciples of Christ who sought to smuggle the Bible to underground churches.
July 25 – Members of the HCC Book Club met on Thursday evening for a time of fellowship and to discuss the selected book. “I’ll Always Wait”, written by Brady Cook, was a retelling of the Biblical parable of the Prodigal Son. This was the second book in Cook’s Parable Series. The Book Club will meet again in September.
July 21 – The Lord calls all believers to serve. On Sunday, four of our youth did just that. In the absence of our Audio-Visual Specialist, Craig Gibson – they performed this important role.
July 15-19 – Once again, HCC hosted its annual Vacation Bible School outreach. The five day event featured welcomed 44 students (3 years – 6th grade) – 35 teachers/helpers – 7 college students/chaperones – 5 mothers + 3 babies. The program explored several important historical events that have shaped human history – CREATION; CORRUPTION; CATASTROPHE; CONFUSION; CHRIST; CROSS; CONSUMMATION. The Answers in Genesis program was a great success.
July 9 – HCC held its monthly free lunch for community residents over the age of 50. The program was a trivia game hosted by Pastor Matthew. A “picnic” lunch of hamburgers, pasta salad, and more was served.
July 4 – To promote HCC and its upcoming VBS – several members of the youth joined the annual Independence Day Parade. More than 3000 pieces of candy – hundreds of gummy frogs – invitations for VBS – and confetti cannons made the event a great success!
The evening of July 1 was beautiful. It was a nice night for a walk. Several friends from HCC met at Brandon Township Park to walk and talk.
Thank you to all those that donated items for the Pregnancy Center of Lapeer. More than 2000 wipes and 500 diapers, plus many other essential items, were collected!
HCC Youth hosted an Ice Cream social following the evening service on June 30. Vanilla, Chocolate, Moose Tracks, and three flavors of sherbet were served along with numerous toppings. The congregation was appreciative of this summer treat (despite cooler temperatures).
At HCC, we realize the important role that godly men have in our homes, church, and community. On Father’s Day, each man is honored. As part of the service, Jordan and Lucas shared a poem as a tribute.
